How can college counseling help students and their families?

The college you attend will shape your future. Although college application is a complicated process, with good planning and careful preparation, you can achieve your goals: finding the best colleges for you and acceptance to the college of your choice.

When is the best time for college exploration?

Parents and students appreciate information about the college admissions process as early in their high school years as possible. By spring of the junior year families should begin a comprehensive college search initiative.

Individual and Family College Counseling

College counseling sessions provide in-depth information about applying to college. Customized, individual sessions to address the following issues include:

  • Self Assessment: Identifying your academic and personal strengths
  • Matching Yourself with the Right College: Choosing the best college for you
  • Presentation of Self: Communicating your strengths and interests
  • Personal Essays: Writing creative and unique personal essays
  • Time Management: Developing a timely college search plan
  • Campus Visits: Making the most of your college visits

Circles and Workshops:
Negotiating the "Information Fog"

College counseling circles and workshops offer practical strategies, support, and insight to negotiate the "information fog" related to college admissions. In these workshops participants examine myths about college selection and explore survival strategies related to the college admission process. Students and their parents will review:
